Laboratories
BWADC has 20 laboratory distributed allover the company branches. The headquarter is supplied with a central laboratory which is equipped with the latest equipments and machines to perform all the bacteriological and chemical analysis as well as the microscopic examinations. These laboratories aim at performing many researches to raise the efficiency of the plants and observe the quality of the produced water.
Quality Assurance and Environment Administration
Historical Brief :
Environment Affaires administration was established in BWADC in 26/11/1998. BWADC is the first water company in Egypt to take care of the environment affaires.
The Administration Developments:
The first development:
-The environmental survey .
- Evaluating the environmental impact of the newly established plants.
- Paying attention to development researches just as studying the use of chlorine alternates in water disinfection and studying the use of natural gas as a fuel to the company car's.
The Second Development:
Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) Program :
The Definition of LCA :
LCA is a programme that is responsible of analyzing the life cycle of water treatment plant to determine the impact of water treatment process on the environment; consequently we try to reduce the environmental impact of the plants.
The Aim of the Program:
- Analyze the life cycle of water drop in water treatment plants from the beginning (Intake) to the end (Distribution) to determine the impact of water treatment process on the environment .
- Calculate the un-accounted water which is lost during water treatment process and the amount of the lost water in each stage. Then trying to avoid the reasons of water loss; so the costs of the cubic meter of water could be reduced.
- Calculate the lost water and concentrate on reducing its ratio.
- Determine the operational energy of the plant and calculate its material costs; so we can determine the stage that consumes energy with great quantities; consequently we can reduce the consumption of energy which will be resulted in reducing the costs and the environmental pollution.
The Third Development:
Establishing Management Systems in the Company:
- on 20 th, August 2004 Beheira Water & Drainage Co. was granted ISO14001 in the Environmental Management
- on 18th, Oct 2005 Beheira Water &Drainage Co. was granted ISO 9001 in the field of quality
- In February 2007, Beheira Water & Drainage Co. was granted ISO 17025 in the field of
Accreditation and qualification of laboratories .
